BFGoodrich Presented Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 In Britain The BFGoodrich company, producer of premium-class tires, officially presented Mud Terrain T/A KM2 tire on the British market.

The new tire is intended for “serious off-road adherents” and belongs to the specialized segment of the tires suited for deep mud. The company’s announcement says that the tire will operate in off-the-road conditions 80% of its service life. Mud Terrain T/A KM2 replaces the previous model Mud Terrain T/A that has become a real veteran of tire tests and received a lot high appraisals. Now the tire is offered in 15 – 17 inch sizes. The range of the sizes will be extended in 2010.

According to Steve Dolby, head of the marketing department of BFGoodrich, drag force in deep mud, steering on wet surface, braking on dry surface and traction on snow-covered surface of the new tire are by 5% better than those of the previous model. Besides this the sidewalls were reinforced, and drag force on stony surface was improved by 10%. Mr. Dolby also notes that the tire is manufactured with the use of the technologies borrowed from sporty BFGoodrich Krawler KX TEK tire. Thanks to the application of these technologies the tire got more solid sidewalls and aggressive lugs that improved the tire’s performance in severe off-the-road conditions.

TriGard carcass makes the tire one of the best in the extreme off-road segment. The increased durability makes the driving more confident. One of the basic elements is reinforced cord of the tire’s bead.

New Winter Tire By BFGoodrich

New Winter Tire By BFGoodrichBFGoodrich company is launching a new winter tire – BFGoodrich Winter Slalom KSI with S speed rating letter that was designed exclusively for riding on the ice and deep snow.

New Winter Tire By BFGoodrich More aggressive lugs provide maximum traction at the beginning of the ride thus ensuring excellent steering control when braking and cornering. Deep grooves at the shoulder area more effectively withdraw slush and water from the contact patch and guarantee superb off-the-road performance in deep snow.

A new rubber compound has been developed by the engineers of the BFGoodrich company to provide maximum traction performance on snow and ice. Optimal proportion of sipes and grooves increases the area of the contact patch and ensures stable high level of traction throughout the whole service life of the tire.

Bidirectional sipes improve the stability of tread blocks and provide perfect steering control. Sloped tread block edges increase reliability and service life of the tire. The tire contour allows to optimize pressure level.

BFGoodrich Winter Slalom KSI tires are available in 20 sizes with 8 – 10 inch width, 15 – 17 inch rim seat diameter. “S” speed ratin letter allows to mount the tires on vehicles with maximum speed of 160mph.

The BFGoodrich company recommends to mount tires of equal size, model, speed and load rating letters both on front and rear axle of SUVs in case no other configuration is stipulated by the manufacturer. The non-fulfillment of this requirement can lead to the damage of such suspension elements as central differential.

BFGoodrich assured that new Mud Terrain T/AKM2 provides excellent performance when driving off-road, regardless of road surface, characterized by durability, resistance to damage and good traction. The tire is represented in 16 sizes from 15 to 17 inches in diameter with a section width of 215 to 305 mm in the series from 85 to 70 and the Q index of velocity . M + S marking on the sidewall indicates the suitability of tires for use in mud and snow-covered surfaces.

During the development of tires engineers focused on creating a tire that is able to overcome any obstruction on the complex, rocky, mud and rocky surfaces, so the main priority was to develop a tough tire. The strength and durability of the tire, according to the manufacturer, provided through the three technologies – aggressive lamellas on the sidewall, the further sidewall increase in resistance to puncture and damage, as well as substantial cords in the sidewall. These three specifications have proven to be effective and the company calls this the most successful tire product in the history of tires for extreme off-road racing.

Cord in the sidewall of new tires, as producer says, is 33% stronger than that of its predecessor. Three-frame TriGard also includes a sturdy cord, resulting in significantly increased resistance to rubber damage.
