New Tire Recyling Methods

We talked many times about ecology and this topic is a challenge in the XXI-st century. So every time we have to invent new methods how to use things without recycling and polluting the environment.
New Tire Recyling Methods
For example, tires from motor vehicles are a very big problem, since they’ve been invented (imagine: only in the United States nearly 200 million passenger car tires sold per year - millions of Bridgestone, Continental, Sumitomo tires…). When they are all brand-new, everything is excellent. They do not too much harm to the environment. But what to do with old, used, and already spoiled ones? They are being thrown or burnt in landfills, but the smoke from the burning, of course, is terrible. It is not just an awful smell, but also a throw of harmful toxic substances into the atmosphere. But you can solve this problem, if you wish. And a very unusual way to do so the designer Carl Menary offers. His concept of «Re-Tyre» is a step in the right direction in the fight for clean air and free from environmental toxins. Designer makes the chairs from the tires! They look unusual, strange, but it is not the main thing.

I think when we go to the park or a pond, we do not care
where to sit, except not on the asphalt. And in the absence of benches, you can use these new «chairs». No one proposes to furnish a bedroom or living room, but in the courtyard of your house – why not?

Tire Decisions To Combat The Crisis

Forehanded owner before throwing away their old shoes, try to fix them. That is why the Italian company Marangoni, dealing with tires with tread erased and with tire services, in times of global crisis is in the best financial terms, as compared with competitors, dealing only with new tires. All of this is because 65% of the total turnover of the company took the restoration of the tread of tires.

Tire Decisions To Combat The Crisis
With this distribution of production, the Marangoni Group company managed to lose only 9% of turnover in the Italian market, when the competitors have reduced turnover by 15%. While the tire service freight car tires in Europe as a whole fell by 20%, Italians prefer to save a little, again using the restored
tread that is a reasonable solution to combat the crisis. In addition, the research center of the company is developing new rubber compounds for retreading tires.

In 2009, Marangoni company intends to continue its strategy of expansion and growth than it has in the past two years. However, it would still make the emphasis on tire service, meeting the growing needs of the Italian cars and trucks. The current financial downturn has proved profitable for manufacturers of tires, restored from the second-hand, though the company will not be able to avoid cutting production.

In this regard, the Marangoni Group is going to close one of its plants in Feltre, Remediation auto tires. According to the decision of the company’s management
it would be done in order to centralize production. The plant, located in Rovereto, which produced approximately 200 thousand tires, will continue its work. No cost and no reduction of staff and one of Italian plants producing industrial auto tires will be transported to Sri Lanka in order to reduce the cost of production.

Buying Used Tires On eBay Could Be Dangerous

Buyers started to avoid buying used tires from eBay, after independent tests showed: half of tires offered on eBay of are dangerous and should not be installed on vehicles. The initiator of the study was the Continental company.

At the auction twenty-used tires were bought and during the tests, technical experts found that each fifth tire is too worn out and can not be used. Another 20% of tires do not have the required markings. Treads of two tires were very worn and erased, one tire had signs of illegal and dangerous repair, on the other fracture was glued with superglue. According to Entyrerty company, which was conducting the technical expertise, sellers on eBay do not care at all about safety requirements.

Another study, also conducted by Continental, has shown that one of the eight drivers in the United States and Europe has already bought or considering the purchase of used tires on eBay. Among drivers aged 18-24 years one of three drivers is ready to use the services of the auction.

The representative of Continental T
ires, Roger Sanders said: “If you are buying used tires on eBay it is impossible to determine their suitability for further use. Inspection to detect damaged tire is also virtually impossible, especially for photos online. Purchase of used tires from an unknown source saves money but increases the risk. Ending warranty, erased pattern or cracks in the side wall - all this increases the risk of a dangerous situation on the road and can lead to clashes and deaths.”
