Continetal Workers Protest Against Factory Closure

Hundreds of workers made fire from the Continental tires - samples of their products - before the old Paris stock exchange on Monday to protest against plans for the closure of the French company’s plant.

Employees of Continental held several protests after the German manufacturer of tires announced in March plans for closing the plant, which employs 1,120 people.
«Market - a symbol of world crisis. They speculate with workers’ fates, and here is the result. They did bets, they have lost. This is a crisis, but we will not pay for them », - said the representative of the trade union CGT Xavier Mathieu to the journalists.
The historic building of a stock exchange in France is no longer used as a marketplace. In previous protests, Continental workers stormed the office of the company, as well as the governmental buildings, breaking windows, computers and furniture.

Protests by workers against layoffs in France are becoming increasingly radical in the past three months. Several times the staff closed representatives of companies in offices or factories, not allowing them to leave the premises.
