    Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company was founded in 1898 when Frank Sayberling bought the first factory for the money borrowed from his brother. So Sayberling created the company and gave it the name of the brave researcher Charles Goodyear who discovered vulcanization. Sayberling also invented the distinctive company symbol – a winged sandal that still symbolically mediates the company with its past.
